Your website might look fine to you. But when was the last time you looked at it from the point of view of a potential customer?

Websites have a habit of becoming outdated without anyone really noticing. A few years ago, the design might have looked fresh, your services might have been exactly what you wanted to offer, and your images might have been perfect.

But businesses change. Your website should too.

1. It looks dated

Web design trends, technology and customer expectations change constantly. A website that looked modern five years ago can now make your business appear behind the times.

2. It’s difficult to use on mobile

Your customers aren’t necessarily sitting at a desk. If your website is difficult to navigate, slow or awkward to use on a phone, you’re making it harder for people to contact you.

3. Your services have changed

Perhaps you’ve added new services, stopped offering others or changed the type of customers you want to attract. Your website needs to reflect where your business is now, not where it was several years ago.

4. Your content hasn’t changed

A website shouldn’t be something you build once and forget about. Fresh content, new images, news and useful information can make your business look active and give customers a reason to return.

5. It doesn’t feel like your business anymore

This is perhaps the biggest warning sign.

Your website should feel like an extension of your brand. If your business has evolved but your website hasn’t, there could be a disconnect between what customers see online and what you actually offer.

A website doesn’t always need replacing. Sometimes it simply needs a rethink.

At MGT Design, we create websites that combine design, functionality with our web development  and marketing to help businesses stand out online.
